Ecuador: Mount Chimborazo
20,549 ft (6,263 m)
Mount Chimborazo is the highest mountain in Ecuador, rising to 6,263 meters (20,548 feet) in the central Andes. Though not the tallest in the Andes range, Chimborazo holds a unique distinction—due to the Earth’s equatorial bulge, its summit is the farthest from our planet’s center. This dormant volcano attracts climbers seeking altitude, challenge, and awe-inspiring views. While the ascent is not overly technical, the thin air, icy conditions, and rapid weather changes demand proper acclimatization and mountaineering experience.
