Columbia: Pico Cristóbal Colón
18,800 ft (5,730 m)
Far above Colombia’s Caribbean coast, the twin peaks of Pico Cristóbal Colón and Pico Simón Bolívar rise to approximately 5,730 meters (18,800 feet), making them the highest mountains in the country. Nestled in the remote Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta—just 42 kilometers from the sea—these snow-capped summits rank among the most prominent coastal mountains on Earth. Climbs are rarely attempted due to complex logistics, dense jungle terrain, and security concerns. The peaks also hold deep cultural and spiritual significance for the Indigenous Kogi people, who consider them the sacred heart of the world.
