Minnesota: Eagle Mountain
2,298 ft (700 m)
Eagle Mountain sits quietly in Minnesota’s far northeastern corner, rising to 2,301 feet (701 meters) in the forested heart of the Boundary Waters. This is one of the more remote state highpoints in the Midwest, reached by the Eagle Mountain Trail—a 7-mile round-trip route that winds past lakes and rocky ledges before topping out at a wooded summit marked by a plaque. While the views are modest, the setting and solitude make the hike one to remember. It’s a peaceful challenge and a scenic contrast to more drive-up peaks on the list in this region.
